About Carrollton TX
Carrollton is a city in the state of Texas, which is situated within the Denton and Collin Counties. As of 2018, the City of Carrollton had an estimated population of more than 136,870. This makes it the 23rd most populous city in the state of Texas, and the 201st biggest city in the United States. Carrollton was probably named in honor of Carrollton IL, which was the former home of the settlers who moved into the site of the future city. At first, the City of Carrollton’s economy was primarily based on agriculture. However, after the building of the Dallas – Wichita Railroad, Carrollton started to grow in industrial significance. In the early to mid 1880s, this Texas city boasted of flour mills, cotton gins, 2 churches, and a school.
When the St. Louis Southwestern Railway crossed the city in the year 1888, Carrollton emerged as a leading shipping hub for livestock, cotton, cotton seeds and grain. The City of Carrollton was officially incorporated in the year 1913, and by the late 1940s, the city had transitioned into a grain and gravel town. At this particular period of time, Carrollton had a brick plant, a fledging dairy industry, and the National Metal Products established itself here in 1946. The City of Carrollton went on to grow exponentially between 1970 and 1980, and registered a documented growth of 193%. In the year 2006, Carrollton was ranked as the 19th Best Place to Live in the United States by Money magazine, and in 2008, Money ranked it 15th Best Place to Live among Small Cities in the nation.

Historic Downtown Carrollton
The historic downtown area of the City of Carrollton can be the perfect place to experience the authentic Carrollton atmosphere. The Cavanaugh Flight Museum is situated just within a 12 minute ride from downtown Carrollton. The collection of the Cavanaugh Flight Museum features fighter planes, which took part in both the 1st and 2nd World War, the Vietnam War, the Korean War and several other civilian aircraft. Visitors can get the golden opportunity enjoy rides in some of this Carrollton museum’s planes, but requests must be made in advance.
Okan Good Park
Carrollton’s Okan Good Park features open playgrounds, a number of baseball pitches and even softball fields. When it comes to playgrounds, the Okan Good Park currently boasts of 2, one of which is reserved for toddlers, and the other for more older children. In the toddlers’ playground, there are shade canopies that keep younger children protected from the glare of the sun, during especially hot summer days.
A.W Perry Homestead
The A.W Perry Homestead is the go-to spot to experience the rich history of this Texas city. it can as well be the right place to get a good idea of how the City of Carrollton and the surrounding area looked like in the bygone days. Essentially, this is an authentic Texan homestead, which was converted into a museum in order to preserve and present life in Carrollton during the late 19th century and at the turn of the 20th century.

The Coyote Ridge Golf Club serves as a daily public fee golf course, and was in the recent past named one of the #5 luxury course in the state of Texas. The golf course is complemented with a 26,000 square feet luxury clubhouse together with a state of art pro shop.
Dallas Museum of Art
The Dallas Museum of Art is situated at the center of the Dallas Art District, some miles from downtown Carrollton. It houses a remarkable collection of over 22,000 pieces that span from 3rd BC to the present. Some of its most notable artworks include ancient Mediterranean works of art, 18th to 20th century European and American artworks, works of art from the Americas, Asia, Africa and the Pacific. Some of the most prominent artists whose works are showcased in the Dallas Museum of Art include O’Keeffe, Warhol, Pollock, Van Gogh, Renoir, Rothko, Monet to mention just but a few.
African American Museum
The African American Museum is housed in a grand total of 4 vaulted galleries, and its mission is to enable visitors to explore the African American art experience via intriguing and fascinating exhibits and displays. It is important to note this museum is the only one of its kind in the Southwest region of the country to possess a sizeable collection of African and African American works of art. This, of course, includes arguably one of the biggest folk art collections in the United States.
Perot Museum of Nature & Science
The Perot Museum of Nature & Science provides dynamic experiences that stimulate curiosity in visitors of all ages. It covers 180,000 square feet of exhibition space and stand 170 feet high. 5 of the Perot Museum of Nature & Science’s floors house 11 permanent exhibit halls, featuring state of art video and 3D computer animations. The lower level of the cube houses a state of art modular traveling exhibits hall, an education wing with 6 learning labs, a flexible space auditorium and a children’s museum.
